The history on the battle of Marudu Bay occurred on the 18th August 1845 whereby a British squadron, consisting of H. M. S. Agincourt, Vestal, Daedalus, Viren and the sloops Cruiser and Wolverine, under the command of Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Cochrane, anchored at the entrance of Marudu Bay, to attack the pirates under Serip Usman, an Illanun pirate chief.
