Question: What is Waqf?

Answer: Waqf is a religious endowment such as a voluntary and irrevocable dedication of one's wealth or a portion of it in cash or kind and its disbursement for shariah compliant projects or charitable purposes.

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak welcomes all to Waqf their personal items on Sarawak, by Sarawakians or other items collected by them. The collection may include but not limited to books, manuscripts, artworks, photographs, letter of correspondence, maps, rare documents, slides and stamps that can contribute to Pustaka’s niche collection, Sarawakiana.

The objective of this program is to preserve Sarawak’s culture, governance, history and heritage and making the collections accessible to researchers, students and general public.

For more information on this program, kindly contact Sarawakiana Division, Depository Services Sector via email at statedepository@sarawak.gov.my or call 082-440488.
