Question: What are the complications of influenza?

Answer: A small proportion of people infected with influenza may experience pneumonia, myocarditis and neurological complications. These complications can lead to hospitalisation and death. 
While the highest risk of complications from influenza is in people with pre-existing medical conditions, complications can also occur in healthy individuals.
