World #QURANHOUR 1447H at pustaka miri: shaping humanity before building the world

Posted on 03 March 2026

MIRI – The public is invited to attend the World #QuranHour 1447H program at the Auditorium, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, corresponding to 21 Ramadan 1447H, starting at 9.00 a.m.

Organised by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri, the program is held in conjunction with the global World #QuranHour initiative, which aims to encourage the community to enliven the Quran in their daily lives by emphasizing the reading, understanding, and reflection of its sacred verses.

For this year’s edition, the highlighted chapter is Surah Al-Muzzammil, which conveys messages of spiritual strength, patience, and reliance on Allah in facing life’s challenges. Carrying the theme “Shaping humanity before building the world,” the program calls on the community to pause from worldly busyness and return to the Quran as a guide for life and a source of spiritual strength. Participants will spend one hour reading, understanding, and reflecting (tadabbur) on the verses of the Quran together.

The event will be further graced by the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Miri City, Mr. Ariffin Bin Mohamad, as a show of support for efforts to strengthen noble values and build a society grounded in Quranic principles.

Among the objectives of the program are to emphasize the importance of engaging with the Quran through three main aspects: reading, understanding, and practicing its teachings. In addition, the program aims to instill noble values derived from the chapters of the Quran in order to develop a nation and world guided by divine revelation. This effort is hoped to nurture a generation whose personal “operating system” is rooted in the Quran, fostering a compassionate and virtuous society.

In addition to the main program on 11 March, several side activities will also be organized to enliven the World #QuranHour celebration at Pustaka Miri. On Monday, 9 March 2026, a Khat (Islamic calligraphy) Competition will be held at the Lobby, Level 1, from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The competition is open to primary school students in the Miri area.

On the second day leading up to the celebration, Tuesday, 10 March 2026, the Azan Competition 2026 will take place at the Auditorium, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The competition is open to registered Muslim male secondary school students studying in the Miri District. The program aims to discover talent, build self-confidence, and instill courage among students to call others towards goodness through the recitation of the azan.

Also organised is the “Fun with Jawi” Workshop, an interactive workshop aimed at enhancing skills and nurturing appreciation for the Jawi script. The workshop offers a new perspective on the beauty of Jawi writing and its role in shaping identity and the spirit of the ummah, in line with the spirit of World #QuranHour. The workshop is open to all members of the public who wish to learn Jawi writing.

Participation in World #QuranHour can also be followed online, allowing more people to join in observing one hour with the Quran.
