EDUCATIONAL FUN AT KNOWLEDGE CAMP 2011

A total of thirty students participated in Pustaka Miri’s
Knowledge Camp 2011
held on 30 – 31 July 2011.
The
Form 4 students from schools in and around Miri City camped for two
days at the library and did exciting and educational activities.



Knowledge Camp is one of the annual
events organised by Pustaka Miri to promote knowledge acculturation
particularly amongst youths.




Guided by facilitators and mentors,
the participants took part in activities such as information literacy
skills session, teamwork building, public speaking, group aerobics,
motivational talks, ‘Info Hunt’ and blog-building workshop.




They were divided into groups and
competed healthily whilst being guided by their mentors. The
participants were also assessed individually in terms of leadership,
talent, positive attitude, confidence and other attributes. Team
‘Marco Polo’ emerged as the overall champion whilst Team ‘Thunder
Cat’
was announced the runner-up. The other teams were ‘Moof
Forward’, ‘Friendly Rainbow’
and ‘Fiction Sixteen’.




Mohd. Azil b. Lee
and Angely Lily ak. Kulak, both from SMK Suai were awarded `Knowledge
Camp 201`
Best
Male
and
Female Participant
respectively.
Librarian Lilian Baun Pulo, was also awarded
Most
Popular Secretariat
for
her dedication and effort in guiding the participants throughout the
program.




The participants received their
certificates and prizes from Pustaka Miri’s Regional Manager Salina
Haji Zawawi and was witnessed by Knowledge Camp 2011’s coordinator
Ahmad Samsudin during a simple closing ceremony at the end of the
camp.
