Welcome to PustakaPedia

This is the home of knowledge for Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Pustaka) or the Sarawak State Library. It is a knowledge base established and maintained to facilitate the capture, sharing, access and utilisation of Pustaka's organisational knowledge. For employees of Pustaka, your knowledge journey begins here and ends where you want it to be. The development and growth of this knowledge base are dependent upon the crucial participation of the staff. Thus, every staff is required to contribute towards this knowledge base, in the forms of articles, postings and discussions.

Did you know that research study was commissioned by the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Pustaka) in 2012 to investigate library users’ reading habits and leisure time activities in the state of Sarawak. Pustaka wanted to enhance reading effort and inculcate reading habits among the users. It was in line with the policy of the government that had made a significant move to promote literacy and encourage life-long learning. How to Use PustakaPedia

Use the search window at the top-right corner of the page to type the keyword for the articles that you are looking for. The articles matching your keyword will be displayed and you can choose the article that you want. You can also browse through the knowledge base via the names of the Sectors and Divisions below.

If you wish to contribute to the PustakaPedia, you must have a valid user account. At present, only employees of Pustaka are allowed to have PustakaPedia user account. The following simple instructions explain how to create PustakaPedia account and how to write PustakaPedia article.

  • Click Log in.
  • At the Log in screen, click Create account or Join PustakaPedia to create your account.
  • Type in you username and password. Please choose a username that resembles you the closest possible.
  • Type your full name and email address.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Log in to go the Log in screen and key in your username and password.
  • Once logged in, type the title of the article that you want to compose in the Search PustakaPedia box.
  • At the Search result screen, click the title of the article, which is shown in red.
  • You will be presented with Wikitext editor where you can start composing your very first PustakaPedia article. Go to Advance and Special characters to see more editing options.
  • Click Show preview button to display your composition in PustakaPedia, but not publishing it yet.
  • Check for typos and do amendments. Repeat Step 5.
  • Click Save.
  • Type the title or parts of the article that you are looking for in the Search PustakaPedia box.
  • A drop down list of all the articles that match your search will be displayed.
  • Click the title of the article that you wish to read.
  • For categorical search, type 'Category:' in the Search PustakaPedia box.
  • A drop down list of all the available categories will be displayed.
  • Click on the category that you want to explore.
  • For more advance search, use the 'Special pages' tool on the left panel.
