Program Bacalah Anakku merupakan usaha untuk memupuk budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat pada peringkat seawal yang mungkin. Oleh itu, pendekatan awal melalui kerjasama ibu-ibu mengandung atau ibu selepas bersalin merupakan kaedah terbaik untuk memulakan tabiat membaca dan menanam budaya ilmu. Program intervensi awal ini dijangka akan  memberi kesan besar dalam membentuk masyarakat yang berbudaya ilmu pengetahuan.

Born To Read program was an initiative to promote reading habit among the communities in Sarawak at the earliest possible stage. It was initiated in 2003. The most practical approach to inculcate reading habit and acculturate knowledge in the society was via the expecting and post natal mothers. This early literacy intervention program was hoped to give a huge boost in the development of a well-informed and knowledge society.

The program pioneer projects were implemented at 4 medical clinics in Kuching and Samarahan district. These clinics were equipped with book shelves, floor mats and 100 books. The reading materials were the public use, particularly parents and visitors to the clinics.
