Introduction
Thematic exhibition is one of the initiative to promote the collections available at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak while highlighting selected topic. Thematic exhibition at Pustaka was organized monthly. The preparation of the exhibition should be at least one (1) month in advance.
Selecting Theme
Selecting theme for the exhibition might be varies. Normally, the theme are selected based on the following criteria:
- Commemorative day / related festival
- Availability of Pustaka's collection related to the theme
- Current popular issues
Gathering Resources
Browse several publications, sites, books and search broadly at first. Find the information from trusted source and don't forget to save the source link and title for credit. Contact other related agencies for resources such as posters, photos, replica, etc.
Creating Storyboard
Everything in the exhibition should contribute to the story shared to the audience. Make sure the group knows the main idea of the exhibitions; the major themes and how they relate to the main idea; and how each object relates to a theme and, of course, to the main idea. The exhibition will include:
- Title
- Introduction / history
- A brief description
- Sections (groupings of objects)
- Objects
- Conclusion
- Credits
Tips
- The storyboard should not be too wordy
- More visuals than words
- Avoid using hard-to-read fonts
- Choose the appropriate color scheme (light / pastel color scheme)
