Pustaka’s Research Committee (hereinafter called “the Committee”) is a committee established by the Board of Management (hereinafter called “the Board”) of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Pustaka) to develop and administer policies, procedures and strategies that will promote high quality research conducted by or on behalf of Pustaka.

Pustaka’s Research Committee was a committee established by the Board of Management of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (Pustaka) to develop and administer policies, procedures and strategies that will promote high quality research conducted by or on behalf of Pustaka. The Committee, which was formerly called the Research and Development Committee, was officially formed in 2014.

This Committee has been restructured, reorganised and officially renamed the Research and Publications Committee on 5 July 2021. Hence, the update of this article will be discontinued.

Roles

a) To advise and respond to the Board on:

1) the development of research-related policies and the operation of those policies in accordance with Pustaka’s research plan; and
2) the development and presentation of staff trainings on research-related matters.

b) To provide regular reports to the Board on all matters related to research conducted by or on behalf of Pustaka.
c) To initiate, review and monitor compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
d) To receive requests and act on issues which come from the Board for consideration.
e) To provide regular reports to the Board on the progress of the implementation of all matters delegated to it by the Board.

Membership

a) Chairman appointed by the Board (Chairperson)
b) Member of the Board (Member)
c) Chief Executive Officer, Pustaka (Member)
d) Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Pustaka (Member)
e) Head of Innovation and Sustainability Division, Pustaka shall be the Secretariat to the Committee
f) Other individuals, independent of part of organisations, whose inputs and contributions the Committee deem necessary and required (Member)

Frequency of Meeting

The Committee shall meet at least twice a year.

Review

The Committee shall review its membership, procedures guidelines and other related matters as it deems necessary.

Management of Research

A proposed research shall be managed and administer via the Research Management Guidelines.
