The Oral History Division was instituted on 1 May 2024. It has its humble beginning as the Oral History Unit under the [Sarawakiana Division]. This upgrading from a unit to a division comenserates its bigger roles and wider responsibilities in generating local contents and preservation of historical narratives on Sarawak.
Functions
a) To preserve State’s heritage especially on social and cultural history.
b) To document oral history.
c) To promote awareness on the importance of Oral History and initiate discussion and training on the oral history practices.
d) To process and foster access and use of oral history collections.
