SARAWAK STATE BIBLIOGRAPHY
Introduction
Sarawak State Bibliography (SSB) provide a list of materials published in Sarawak and deposited at the State Depository, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak. The printed SSB is published in every two years. The list was compiled by collecting known published materials originating from Sarawak and do not purport to be exhaustive. Over the course of the years since the first published State Bibliography, much efforts has been made by the State Depository of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak to create awareness about the importance of legal deposit under the Sarawak State Library Ordinance, 1999. That effort has paid off with Pustaka Negeri Sarawak seeing a significant increase in the number of legal deposit made. In addition to increasing awareness, the State Depository will continue with its commitment to search for new published materials through all possible and available avenues. The wealth of materials gathered ranging from beautifully bound hard cover to a one piece leaflet and all kinds in between from authors of different backgrounds whether they be government departments, big business corporation or individuals has been very encouraging.
It is hope that more local writers and enthusiasts will be encouraged to publish their work and to tap into the vibrant and dynamic economy and the rich culture, custom, history and heritage of Sarawak.
This bibliography is electronically available on the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak website at http//www.pustaka-sarawak.com/ssb

Summary: This book takes the frustration out of interpreting thousands of acronyms and abbreviations commonly in use in Sarawak. For the first time, the reader has access in one convenient place, to explanations of the meanings of shortened forms both in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Abbreviation are simply the shortened form of a word or number of words while acronyms are formed by taking the initial letters or parts of a group of words, thereby creating another word.
