The MBKS Resource Centre or MBKS Library is an offshoot of the Kuching Municipal Council (KMC) Library. KMC established the library in 1970 and operated it until 1989. In 1999, MBKS formed the Library Sub-Committee to set-up an information centre, which is today called the MBKS Resource Centre or MBKS Library, to meet the demands of the residents within its jurisdiction after the KMC Library was taken over by DBKU in 1990. The new MBKS Resource Centre is situated at the Mezzanine floor of the City Hall covering a floor area of 966 sq. meters.
