Weeding of Library Materials

Weeding is the process of regularly removing outdated or irrelevant library resources. Item are weeded from our collections based on a set of criteria relevant to library policy.[1]

  1. Designated officer will identify the areas of weeding exercise.
  2. Determine the date to do weeding.
  3. Designated officers will be briefed on the weeding exercise to all officers involved

Criteria of Weeding Process

  1. Circulation statistic
  2. Year of Publication/Age
  3. Physical condition of library materials
  4. Multiple copies

After materials has been identified, library assistants or designated officers is required to change the status of library materials from available to weeded/in repair/damaged/obsolete/board of survey in Angkasa Library Management System - Item Management Module.

Weeded library materials will be relocated in closed stack or sent to relevant unit for repairing.
