Pustaka Institute is one of the major Sectors in Pustaka. It is an learning institution formally established on 1 May 2022.

Roles

1) undertakes research and study on library, information science, records and archives management that is designed for the improvement and continuing development in the quality of library’s roles in the society and information professionals;
2) promotes the practical application of relevant research findings library, information science, records and archives management;>br> 3) promotes standards, guidelines and best practices in library, information science, records and archives management;
4) provides support, inputs and advices in the establishment, expansion and improvement of library facilities through the administration of the State and Federal grants;
5) promotes learning and knowledge creation in library, information science, records and archives management;
6) undertakes knowledge management initiatives and programmes; and
7) provides support, inputs and advises in the application of technologies library, information science, records and archives management.

The main functions of this institute are peerformed by the following core business units of Divisions:

a) The Innovation and Sustainability Division
b) The Learning and Knowledge Creation Division
c) The ICT Infrastructure Division
d) The Wed Applications and Knowledge Management Division

ICT Service Request
e-TerbitS The main objective of this system is to enable Sarawak State Library to grant and approve International Standard Book Number (ISBN) application through an online system. This is done under the grant by the National Library of Malaysia as the sole agency to control the production of international standard numbers in Malaysia
e-KNOWBASE e-KNOWBASE allows members of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak to search the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) and those enquiries which may be of help to others. The Pustaka’s Reference Librarian have been collecting the most FAQs that is related with Pustaka’s services.
e-Preservation The record preservation process is the most important element in the entire records and archive conservation operation. The purpose of preservation of archival records is to extend the life of the use of the archival materials for research purposes. Archiving of archive materials is to reduce the risk of damage and slow down records impairment.
