Introduction

Processing of all types of Pustaka collections received by the Technical Services Division covering printed, non-printed materials and serials as follows;

Type of collections Example
Printed Materials Monograph, Maps, Poster, Brochure, Pamphlet, Photo, Painting, Drawing
Non-Printed Materials Audio, Video, Multimedia Kit, Vinyl, CD-ROM, DVD
Serials Magazines, Newspapers, Annual Report, Journal

Two samples of processing used in this guideline are;

i. Production of books (for printed materials)

ii. Compact disc processing (for non-printed materials)

Processing Library Materials Received by Acquisition Unit

1. Security Strip or 3M Tattle-Tape for Books
2. Seal the Library Logo
3. Date of Acceptance Cop

Processing of Library Materials Received by Cataloguing Unit

1. Place Security Strip or 3M Tattle-Tape for Books
2. Print and place label Bar code based on 3M bar code template at designated areas which is in front and right side of the book. The bar code will be pasted using "Filmomatt Free" to protect the bar code from damage.
3. Print and place call number at the spine label based on book physical size. Align the call number using angled L at the book spine accurately.
4. Book without spine, the call number will be near the barcode as shown in the figure above. 5. Call number must be pasted with "Filmomatt Free" for protection against damage.

Processing Non-Printed Library Material 1. Print and place label Bar code based on 3M bar code template at designated areas which is at the back of CD-ROM Case and on the CD itself.
2. Call number will be place to the CD as shown in the diagram below. L shaped template is used to attach a call number.
