Ensengei Melayu Community Reading Corner
Ensengei Melayu Community Reading Corner was established in Sadong Jaya District in 2017. The site was proposed by the then Director-General of the National Library of Malaysia. Site and requirement studies studies were conducted in 2016. The reading corner is situated in 12 by 30 feet room within a hugh community hall.
The Community
Ensengei Melayu is a Malay village in Sadong Jaya district with a population of about 500 people. This village is on the bank of the Sadong River, about 15 kilometers from Asajaya Town where the nearest library services are available. Another town, Simunjan is about 25 kilometers away in the opposite direction. The villagers are mostly farmers, plantation workers, labourers and government servants. This village is equipped with basic necessities such as electricity, treated water and telecommunication lines. It is accessible by tar-sealed road.
