Background


Norlailawaty Ismail is from Sibu, Sarawak. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Studies With Honours (Library and Information Management) in 2008 from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

Working Experience


After her graduation in November 2008, she was working as the Assistant Librarian at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Bahasa Antarabangsa until December 2008 and then as Librarian with Measat Broadcast Network System Sdn Bhd. She tendered her resignation in September 2009.

With Pustaka Negeri Sarawak


She was firstly reporting on 1st October 2009 and attached to the Information Services Division. During her early years of service, her main responsibility was as the Reference Librarian who responsible to conduct and deliver Information Literacy Skills to the communities. After eight months in the Information Services Division, she then transferred to the Technical Services Division as a cataloger from July until December 2010 due to the resignation of the former cataloger. After that, she was transferred back to her previous position at the Information Services Division in January 2011 until 30th June 2018.

In the year 2014, she was appointed as coordinator for Jawatankuasa Penggerak Amalan Persekitaran Berkualiti (5S) for Pustaka Negeri Sarawak from 2014 until 2017. She was also appointed as representative in the Majlis Bersama Jabatan (MBJ) from year 2014 until 2015. In the year 2016, she was appointed as a committee member for Kelab Sukan dan Rekreasi Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and responsible for recreational activities.

Together with her colleagues Siti Khairunnisa Rosli and Hajah Salina Haji Zawawi, she has co-written a paper entitled Peji’, Peju’, Pejoh’ that been presented during International Federation Library Association (IFLA) Kuala Lumpur in 2018 by Siti Khairunnisa Rosli.

On 1st July 2018 until April 2022, she was reshuffle to the Archives Management Division at State Records Repository (SRR). On 6th June 2020, she presented a paper poster entitled “Kempen 1 Fail 1 Minggu” at Sarawak Librarians Colloquium. Together with her colleagues Ayu Lester Yahya, Dorithy Dela Lawrence and Mohd Aizat Ajis, she has co-written a paper entitled “Pustaka’s role for sustainable preservation of public records and archives” that been presented during International Knowledge Conference via webinar on 12th August 2022 by Mohd Aizat Ajis.

Starting 1st May 2022, she was transferred back to her previous position at the Reference and Client Services Unit, Information Services Division, Kuching.
