Introduction

"If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need."[1] - Marcus Tullius Cicero[2]

Rayson Clinsmund anak Jensonray, a Bidayuh born on July 11, 1995, and raised in the Penrissen area of Kuching, Sarawak, has a diverse cultural background. His father speaks the Bidayuh Bisitang dialect[3], while his mother is of Iban Chinese descent from Kota Samarahan. As the eldest of three siblings, Rayson embarked on his professional journey by joining the Sarawak State Library[4]as an Assistant Librarian, S29, on November 1, 2021. His role expanded when he was appointed as the head of the Reference Unit in the Information Services Division, Sibu.

He possesses a keen interest in exploring various disciplines such as history, philosophy, mythology, culture, nature, and music. His time in the Reference Unit provided him immense satisfaction, serving as a guide and facilitator to library users navigating the vast world of knowledge. Rayson's notable trait is his high level of empathy, which has motivated his involvement with several community service-focused organizations.

Transitioning from his role at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Rayson joined the National Library of Malaysia[5] headquarters in Kuala Lumpur as a Assistant Director, S41, on January 2, 2024. His goal remains steadfast—to continue his commitment to serving the community and contributing to the establishment of a sustainable education system for the people of his country.
