Chew Fang Chin
Mr. Chew`s work represents a sensitive and highly perceptive impression of the indigenous people in Sarawak and their lifestyles: the ethnic simplicity and beauty reflected in a mood which is often serious and serene- a characterisitc and hallmark of most Mr. Chew`s work. His paintings illustrate an excellent understanding and an in-depth comprehension of his human subject and their culture, thereby contributing to the artistic authenticity of his works.
Mr. Chew`s painting are synonymous with the colourful lifestyles of the indigenous peoples of Sarawak. To get a deeper insight into the daily activities of the Ibans, Bidayuhs, Malays, Melanau and Orang Ulus, Chew, has ventured into their longhouse settlements in the interior of Sarawak lived with these friendly natives and learned about their way of life through personal touch.
