- Pustaka Negeri Sarawak or Sarawak State Library here is presently
holding an exhibition on donated materials at its Special Collection
Room, Level 1 of the library.
The exhibition, to end on 6 November 2015 is opened daily from 1: 00 pm – 5:00 pm to members of the public. Admission is free.
The
exhibition is highlighting on the Special Collection materials received
from individual donors, associations and trusts or bequeathed to
Pustaka Negeri Sarawak which consist of rare books, photographs and
documents on Sarawak dating back to the 19th century and others.
These
collections were donated by individuals and agencies from different
parts of the world who were sentimentally involved in various historical
events in Sarawak. They had enriched the knowledge and literature on
Sarawak.
Pustaka would like to see more individuals to come
forward and contributing towards the preservation of Sarawak’s culture,
governance, history, arts and heritage.
It is the responsibility
of Pustaka to ensure that the donated materials are properly processed,
listed and recorded as well as making it accessible to researchers and
the general public.
What are the things that members of the
public can bequeath? It can be in any format or in the form of money;
art works; books, journals, magazines, photographs, letters, diaries,
artifacts, postcards, stamps etc.
