The Technical Services Division of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Sibu was established in November 2018. It consists of three (3) units which are Acquisition Unit, Cataloguing Unit and Sarawakiana Unit.

1.0 Cataloguing Unit & Acquisition Unit
1.1 Acquisition Unit
This unit responsible for the selection and purchasing library materials and resources from the vendors according to its Pustaka Collection Development Policy and Sarawak State Library Ordinance, 1999 & Sarawak State Library (Amendment), Ordinance, 2009.
The ways acquisition unit manage the library materials and resources from the ordering process until its handover to the Cataloging Unit, are:

1.2 Cataloguing Unit
The main function of Sibu cataloguing unit in physical collection management are
- Apply suitable and up-to-date methodologies for collection, storage and retrieval including cataloguing, classifying, assigning of subject headings, authority file maintenance and processing of library material.
- Update and maintain collection maintenance procedures.
- Yearly auditing of collection.

Determine the call number based on the subject heading from Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC). Determine type of collection - Fiction - Non fiction
1.2.4 Weeding of Library Materials
Determine the date General briefing on weeding exercise to all officers involved Identification of the following criteria: - Circulation statistic - Year of publication / Age - Physical condition of library materials - Multiple copies Change the status of library materials from “available” to “weeded/in-repair/damaged/obsolete/BOS” in Angkasa Library Management System - Item Management Relocation of weeded library materials
1.2.5 Stock Take of Library Material
Identification of areas for stock taking exercise Closure of the area to be stock take Informing staff and Sector ICT Implementation of stock take exercise Scanning of library materials and upload the scanned circulation item number (bar code) Generate report of stock take Present to the management
