Innovation and Sustainability Division

The Innovation and Sustainability (I&S) Division is one of the business operating units of Divisions in Pustaka Institute. Established in 2004, it was then called the Research and Development (R&D) Division until 2017. Administratively, it was directly under the purview of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations) until 30 April 2022.
Functions
|
Research
a) Conducts customer satisfaction surveys, market surveys and other forms of surveys.
b) Initiates, manages and administers studies or researches in library, information science, records and archives management.
c) Coordinates the initiation and implementation of improvement programmes based on recommendations from surveys and studies or researches.
d) Manages and administers studies and researches on Pustaka by external parties.
e) Manages the acquisition of data, compilation and distribution of statewide library statistics.
Development
a) Coordinates the planning of development projects under the Malaysia Plans.
b) Monitors the implementation of development projects under the Malaysia Plans.
c) Plans and implements minor development projects under operational grants.
d) Reviews the performance of the implemented minor development projects.
e) Coordinates the planning, implementation and review of strategic plans.
f) Monitors and coordinates the review of cross-functional continual improvement programmes.
Advisory and Consultancy
Manages Pustaka Advisory and Consultancy Services (PACS) which include:
a) The provision of technical advises and professional guidances on the establishment of departmental and special libraries
b) The management of requests for trainings in library administration, services management and collection management
c) The coordination of resources, skills, expertise and experiences.
