Management Team in its early years at Sarawak State Library
Management Team
[1]The Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) opened its doors to the public with a Project Coordinator to lead a handful of staff. Over the years, the Management team grew and more Divisions were created for new functions and services. The CEO shoulders the responsibility for the overall organisation, formulation of strategy and successful service delivery. The senior Management Team members supervise their respective Divisions and Sectors.
[2]How the Management Team developed over the years
Pustaka is both a State Library and a State Depository under the Sarawak State Library Ordinance, 1999 and Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009. The Library comes under the Library management team, consisting of the CEO and the heads of each Division/Sector. The management team is responsible to achieve the outcomes required by Pustaka, in consultation with the Board of Management. The Library is being operated by librarians, para-professionals and professionals in other relevant fields to ensure that all operations are maintained and working efficiently.
Divisions Created
In 2000, the Library started small with only 4 Divisions. The Corporate Affair Division was responsible for the library administration in general. The Technical Service Division was responsible for the organization and bibliographic maintenance of all the information resources. The Information Service Division provided the links and tools for the users to find the information resources. The Information Communication & Technology looked into the system infrastructure to provide equitable access to the resources and ensure the smooth delivery of services. The system was locally developed with customized software.
