Milestone

The implementation of QMS in Pustaka started in 2001/2. Several awareness programs and talks were conducted from various organisations/Consultants such as MAMPU, Chief Minister Office, MPC and freelance quality speakers.

Quality Unit was entrusted to administer and manage the implementation and documentation of MS ISO 9000:2008 in Pustaka during that time. The Officer in charge during the early implementation was Zainol Asri Sobey, Kathreen Lalai Eddie Saga, and Victoria Jonathan. Sonia Suria Ahip took over from Victoria Jonathan from 2004 as the Management Representative (MR). Bronny Lawrence Nawe was appointed as Deputy Management Representative (DMR).

After the implementation stage. Pustaka continued with conducting its own Internal Audits followed by Surveillance Audits. CIMY Malaysia Sdn Bhd. was appointed as the official Consultant for implementation of QMS in Pustaka. The first certification for implementation of MS ISO 9000:2004 (in 2007) and MS ISO 9001:2008 (in 2009) in Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (HQ, Kuching) and Pustaka Miri.

Subsequently, Laurena Ak Aloh took over from Sonia Suria Ahip as the Quality management Representative (QMR) in 2010. Bronny Lawrence Nawe remained as Deputy Management Representative (DMR) until now.

Present

When the management carried out major staff re-shuffling in 2017, Syeeida Hj Ali Husien took over from Laurena Ak. Aloh as the QMR and Bronny Lawrence Nawe as the DQMR for Pustaka. Due to new changes to MS ISO 9001:2015 in early 2017, Pustaka’s actively converted all the Quality Procedures in 2017 in order to obtain re-certification to MS ISO 9001:2015. There were changes to requirements in the standards and clauses involved. The sites remain status quo and the new Pustaka Sibu will come in 2019/2020.

Re-certification of the new standards

Pustaka was successfully re-certified with the new standard MS ISO 9001:2018 on 1st September 2018 and the recertification is valid for 3 years.
