Serian Public Library
The Serian District Council Library or the Serian Public Library was et up the Serian District Council to cater for the information of users in Serian Town and its surrounding areas.
Brief History
Serian District Council Library or the Serian Public Library started as a reading room on a piece of land along the Serian River in the early 1960’s. In 1969, the library moved an annex to the Serian District Council Office which was formerly called the Upper Sadong District Council. In 1984, a new double storey building was built costing RM271,000 next to the Serian District Council office. The library building was officially launch by the late Datuk Edward Jeli, the Minister of Local Government of Sarawak, on 28 March 1985.
In 1994, renovation work was done to the basement of the library resulting in what is today building is a 3- storey building.
