The International Knowledge Conference 2026 (IKC 2026) is an international conference hosted by Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak), bringing together policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and professionals from galleries, libraries, archives, records management institutions, and museums (GLAM) to examine the evolving role of trusted knowledge institutions in an era shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).
Rooted in Sarawak, Malaysia, and the island of Borneo, IKC 2026 reflects Sarawak State Library's long-standing commitment to advancing knowledge equity, digital inclusion, cultural preservation, and lifelong learning at local, regional, and global levels.
IKC 2026 aims to foster meaningful dialogue, evidence-based practice, and international collaboration in shaping resilient, inclusive, and trustworthy knowledge ecosystems for the future.
The IKC2026 Poster Session provides an opportunity for participants to showcase innovative projects, research, programs, services, and best practices that demonstrate the evolving contribution of GLAM institutions in the age of AI.
Poster presenters are invited to highlight how their institutions are responding to transformation, addressing emerging challenges, and creating meaningful impact for communities, researchers, learners, and society at large.
The poster session is intended to encourage knowledge exchange, professional networking, and practical learning among participants from diverse backgrounds and institutions.
This theme reflects the growing responsibility of GLAM institutions to ensure that knowledge remains credible, accessible, inclusive, ethical, and preserved for future generations.
As knowledge increasingly moves into digital environments, ensuring the authenticity, integrity, and traceability of digital objects has become a critical responsibility for GLAM institutions.
Possible topics: Digital preservation frameworks, metadata standards for provenance, fixity checks and checksums, blockchain verification, born-digital archives, case studies on digitised collections.
GLAM institutions are increasingly managing vast volumes of data including cultural collections, user data, research outputs, and AI-generated metadata. Responsible data governance is essential to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical stewardship.
Possible topics: Data governance frameworks, ethical use of AI in collection management, privacy and user data protection, open data vs controlled access, Indigenous data sovereignty, institutional policy development.
In an era characterized by information overload, algorithmic amplification, and AI-generated content, GLAM institutions are uniquely positioned as trusted intermediaries that support information verification, media literacy, and public access to credible knowledge.
Possible topics: Media and information literacy programs, fact-checking initiatives, partnerships with educators and journalists, digital literacy programmes, community-based knowledge validation.
Ensuring equitable access to knowledge is a fundamental mission of GLAM institutions. This sub-theme explores how accessibility can be embedded at the design stage of digital platforms, services, and collections.
Possible topics: Digital inclusion, community learning programs, services for underserved communities, multilingual and indigenous knowledge access, lifelong learning through GLAM institutions.
As cultural heritage becomes digitised, it also becomes vulnerable to new risks such as cyber-attacks, data loss, digital manipulation, and technological obsolescence.
Possible topics: Cybersecurity strategies, risk management and disaster recovery, digital preservation infrastructures, protection of endangered cultural knowledge, ethical considerations in digitising sensitive materials.
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, automation, and digital technologies is transforming the skills required in GLAM professions.
Possible topics: AI literacy training, competency mapping for future GLAM roles, digital scholarship and data management skills, professional development models, cross-disciplinary collaboration, change management.
This sub-theme focuses on how GLAM leaders can guide their institutions to strengthen public trust, promote ethical innovation, manage digital transformation, and build future-ready teams in the AI era.
Possible topics: Leadership strategies, institutional readiness for AI adoption, AI governance and ethics, strategic planning, change management, capacity-building bootcamps, collaboration between GLAM institutions and technology partners.
