Summary
This book is focus on a legend that has been recited for centuries around fires in longhouses in the Kelabit Highlands, the highest inhabited place in Borneo.The legend relates the adventures of a powerful hero, Tuked Rini. He and his wife Aruring Menepo Boong led the people of a longhouse called Luun Atar long ago. Tuked Rini led the men into battle against powerful spirt while the wife led the women in growing rice and socially. Tuked Rini is an important ancestral figure for the Kelabit. Knowledge of the precious traditions and way of life of the Kelabit is valuable to their people especially the younger generation in the town as well as people around the world. This book also contains a number of paintings and drawings that include then paintings by the Kelabit artist Stephen Baya. It’s also includes photograhs taken in 1956 by British explorer Guy Arnold and photographs taken in the 1940s-60 through the Sarawak Museum
