Summary
This autobiography related to Dr. Faizul Mansor`s (writer) experiences in Miri Division of Sarawak from 1983 to 2014, a 31 years long experiences living in small towns and remote villages scattered throughout the Division. Since his early days in Miri till his retirement in 2014, Miri has grown from small town to a city status. So too has the many remote sub-districts and villagers in the rural part of Miri which has grown from small to large over the years. Along with the physical growth, Dr. Faizul has also experienced and recorded the changing lifestyles, education level and social structures of the rural areas. Despite changing physical features of the environment, yet disease such as cholera was still lurking in most unexpected place. The text is illustrated with hundreds of photo which are difficult to recapture with changing of time. Old buildings such as clinics built by the community on a gotong-royong basis will disappear with time and replace with more modern facilities. There were successes and failures all adding to the challenge of a community doctor facing the community needs and the government aspirations.
