State Library To Hold Legal Deposit Awareness Seminar

Kuching – A Seminar on Legal Deposit
Awareness will be held on the 17^th June 2015.

The seminar is aimed at creating awareness about the need for State created publications are properly stored and maintained as the nations’ intellectual heritage and to provide clear understanding of the importance and benefits of copyright protection to authors and publishers.

Among the objectives of this workshop is to provide information and understanding of the requirements, benefits and the function of Pustaka as the State Depository under Section 15 and the implication under Section 19 of Sarawak State Library Ordinance 1999.

Speakers will be from the Ministry of Home Affairs Sarawak Branch , Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia and the National Library of Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur and Pustaka as well.

It is hoped that target groups such as teachers and students involved in school’s editorial columns/magazines in all secondary schools around Kuching will benefit from this seminar.
