MIRI – Members of the public are invited to participate in Pustaka Miri’s activities this month (June 2009).
These activities are organized as part of the library’s continuous effort to promote lifelong learning and knowledge-sharing in the Miri community.
Together with the Society of English Writers Northern Zone Sarawak (SOSWE), Pustaka Miri is holding an Open Writing Session for students and adults. This session will be held this Saturday, 13th June 2009 at 2:00pm.
Participants will use the opportunity to write in English on open topics such as ‘pursuit of happiness’, ‘lifestyle of a working adult today’, ‘lifestyle of a student today’ or any fiction story.

Another event is a public talk on ‘The Impact of Information Technology on Virtual Reality’, which is to replace the talk on ‘Future Medical System For Rural Bario’, will be held on Thursday, 18th June 2009. A business information system lecturer from Curtin University of Technology Sarawak Campus Azhar Yahya will present the talk.
To be held in the Auditorium from 2:30pm, Azhar hopes to raise awareness to the changes of virtual reality that have transformed the way people think, live, learn and work, resulting in changes to the economy, worldview and culture.
