MIRI -Sarawak State Library, Miri Campus is organizing its second Blood Donation Drive for this year on May 14.
The campaign is organised in collaboration with Sarawak Teachers' Union Miri Division and Miri Hospital’s Blood Bank and will be held in the foyer of Pustaka Miri from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
“Organising blood donation campaign is a noble practice that can foster social responsibility by encouraging people to donate blood. It also aims to raise awareness on the importance of donating blood to help save lives as well as instil the spirit of volunteerism,” said the library's Corporate Management Officer Shirley Szebah Mambai.
Successful blood donors will be given snacks and gifts as a token of appreciation for their support. Various interesting activities will be organised as well in conjunction with the campaign, such as exhibitions, quizzes, Pustaka membership registration counter as well as sales of books published by Pustaka at special selling prices.
Each Pustaka member who registers on that day will receive attractive welcoming gift.
“Therefore, do not miss this golden opportunity to participate in the activities held throughout the programme. Do bring along friends and family members to enliven the atmosphere of this campaign,” she added.
The first drive this year on 5 March saw 43 donors came and a total of 38 bags of blood were collected.
The scheduled dates for the two upcoming quarterly blood donation drives are August 20 and November 12.
