American Corner Sarawak Will Continue To Focus on Programs Related To Artificial Intelligence (AI) and The Digital Economy ~ The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg

19 October 2024, KUCHING - The American Corner Sarawak, a collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The ceremony was inaugurated yesterday by Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat, Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport, and Entrepreneur Development II (Entrepreneur Development) at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.

The 20th anniversary of the American Corner Sarawak is a significant milestone, highlighting two decades of collaboration and cultural diplomacy between the U.S. and Sarawak.

The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said;

"American Corner Sarawak," also known as the Lincoln Corner, serves as a primary platform for sharing knowledge in technology, cultural exchange, and entrepreneurial development."

"The American Corner Sarawak is also one of the initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and fostering talent development in the state," he said.
Abang Johari further highlighted that the American Corner Sarawak plays a crucial role in realizing the state government's aspirations through the Sarawak Digital Economy Plan 2030.

The Premier of Sarawak also expressed his hope that the American Corner Sarawak will continue to focus on programs related to artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy, which he described as drivers of the future.

He made this statement through a speech delivered by YB Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat, at the 20th anniversary celebration of the American Corner Sarawak, yesterday.

Also present were His Excellency Edgard D. Kagan, the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia; Datuk Dr. Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zen, Chairman of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak; and Tuan Haji Japri Bujang Masli, CEO of Pustaka.
