MIRI – Pustaka Negeri Sarawak is pleased to announce the appointment of Edison Anak Ricket as the new Regional Manager of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri, effective 1 January 2026.
As Regional Manager, Edison will oversee the strategic direction and daily operations of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri, with a focus on community-oriented services, digital inclusion, media and information literacy, and lifelong learning programmes. These initiatives are aligned with the Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) and the Sarawak Digital Economy agenda.
Prior to this appointment, Edison served as Head of the Lifelong Learning and Information Literacy Division at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak. During this period, he led several key initiatives including the People Accessible Network for Digital Empowerment and Inclusivity (PANDei), the Adult Literacy Programme, Reading Seeds, as well as the implementation of media and information literacy programmes through collaborations with local and international partners, including UNESCO. Under his leadership, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak received international recognition as the Winner of the UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy 2022, further strengthening the institution’s commitment to inclusive and innovative literacy initiatives.
Edison brings over 28 years of experience in the library profession, encompassing state, academic, and specialised libraries. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science (1997) and a Master of Science in Information Management (2006) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). In addition, he has served as a committee member of the IFLA Evidence for Global and Disaster Health Special Interest Group (2021–2023) and is currently involved with the Global Network for Early Years Bookgifting (2023–present). He is deeply committed to bridging the digital divide and empowering communities with essential digital skills, positioning Pustaka as a hub for digital learning and innovation in Sarawak.
“Edison has played a significant role in elevating Pustaka as a leader in digital inclusion, media and information literacy, and community-based learning. His appointment as new Regional Manager of Pustaka Miri will further strengthen our outreach and services, particularly in the northern region of Sarawak,” said Tuan Haji Japri Bujang Masli.
Edison succeeds Razak Haji Rambili, who has served as Regional Manager of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri since August 2021. Under Razak’s leadership, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri intensified its community engagement efforts and the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the library’s role as a strategic partner in sustainability and social innovation initiatives in Miri. Building on this strong foundation, Edison will continue to expand collaborative networks with government agencies, educational institutions, civil society organisations, and local communities to ensure that Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri remains a dynamic community hub for reading initiatives, digital skills development, cultural heritage, and civic participation.
