Pustaka Miri has always been at the forefront in organising
activities that promotes lifelong learning and knowledge sharing. The
library also constantly organises social and community programs.
One of the annual programs regularly
organised to assist those in need is the Blood
Donation Drive and this
year’s event was held on 2nd July 2011. With the assistance of Miri
Blood Bank, more than 100 new and regular blood donors participated
including trainees from the National Service Training Program (PLKN)
Sungai Rait Camp.
A total of 79 people successfully
donated and they were given light refreshment as well as a token of
appreciation. Blood donation drives has been organised by Pustaka
Miri since 2003 and some 50 to 100 pints of blood are collected
during each drive.
The next blood drive will be held on
10th December 2011, in conjunction with Pustaka Miri’s 9th
Anniversary and will be co-organized with Mega Hotel Miri.
